Union and West End Cemetery

The Union and West End Cemetery is located in center city Allentown. The main entrance is on 10th Street at 10th and Chew Streets. The cemetery is mantained by a dedicated group of volunteers. Ten board members (also volunteers) serve the cemetery association and manage the finances, make application for grants, solicit donations and participate in the maintenance of the cemetery.

Allentown Democrat, October 1, 1862

James Clader Killed

James Clader, son of Valentine Clader, of this place, a member of the 46th regiment, was killed in the battle at Sharpsburg. His remains will be brought home.
Oct 1, 1862     


The Allentown Democrat did not get it quite right. Valentine Clader was James' grandfather, not his father. James was the son of Ephraim and Catharine Clader of Allentown, Pennsylvania.
