I promised to display some of the headstones in the Union and West End Cemetery. It would be mind boggling
to view one headstone after another ad infinitum
so I have chosen to limit the number to ten at any one time. I will display ten additional photographs of headstones at various times in the future.
These photographs were taken randomly. They are not intended to display only the unusual or unique
stones, but more of a sampling. It is possible, but not likely, that at some point every stone in the cemetery would have been on display. Below are the first ten:
You most likely noted that the last image shows an impressive monument of an angel taking a child into heaven. You may have also noticed that the angel is headless. This is representative of an act of vandalism. Who would be so cruel as to remove the head of an angel on a monument in a sacred burial ground?
